Do I need a referral to see Dr. Derek Weichel?
No referral is necessary. In most cases patients are able to to see Dr. Weichel within one or two days.

His office is located on the Second Floor of the Beatrice Community Hospital.
What days is Dr. Weichel in Beatrice?
Dr. Weichel sees patients in clinic on Monday all day, Wednesday all day, Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
Physician Assistant Amanda Scheiding sees patients in clinic with Dr. Weichel as well as on Thursday mornings.
Dr. Weichel and Amanda are both in surgery on Tuesday and Dr. Weichel is in surgery on Thursday morning.
Does Dr. Weichel do surgery in Beatrice?
Yes, patients can receive all of their orthopedic care including their initial evaluation, therapy, imaging, and even surgery, if needed, at Beatrice Community Hospital.

Dr. Weichel sees patients at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital/Rural Health Clinic, 600 I Street in Pawnee City.
Clinic is held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
No referral is necessary.

Insurance and Billing
Most health plans are accepted at Beatrice Orthopaedics. Some health plans, such as healthcare plans through the VA, must have preauthorized visits. We encourage you to visit with your insurance company to see if your visit will require preauthorization.

New Update: United Healthcare Compass has now started requiring a preauthorization before being seen. If you are wanting to see Dr. Weichel or Amanda and you have UHC Compass, please call our office and let us know so we can start the prior authorization process.
